Chypraze Wedding Barn- Maisie and Andy

Welcome to my first blog post ever! Obviously a bit bad really given I am just starting my third full year of shooting weddings (it’s actually longer but I started with being a second shooter to gain experience!). So I guess it was important to choose an absolute banger of a wedding to get my blog journey underway!

Which brings me nicely to Maisie and Andy’s fantastic wedding back in October 2022! The Cornwall wedding venue of choice - the very charming and rustic Chypraze Wedding Barn. This hidden gem of a wedding venue, perched atop the dramatic cliffs of the rugged far-west of Cornwall, is a perfect place to choose for adventurous couples, looking for a rustic wedding with a dramatic backdrop. It is situated in the middle of a small working farm, which just adds to its charm. It boasts its own private beach, which rewards couples who aren’t afraid to take the 12-15 minute hike down to Portheras Cove, with jaw-dropping scenery as the back drop to their wedding day photography.

Andy chose to spend his morning with his family and groomsmen in a little old miners cottage in nearby Pendeen, including a trip to the local pub. They were a great bunch and it was cool seeing the deep connection between them all, more of which came out as the day went on! The girls spent their morning in a lovely rented house with sweeping views across Sennen Beach, before making their way to the venue.

The ceremony was held in the Barn itself, with proceedings conducted by Celebrant extraordinaire Chalotte Williams (Charlotte Williams Ceremonies). She had traveled down from the south east, like the couple themselves, but it was definitely worth the trip. Some highlights were little Koah , being wheeled down the aisle before Maisie and then the family planting their own Oak Tree sapling as part of the ceremony (later planted in a place special to them back home).

After the moving ceremony (with some terrific readings by the guests) and the confetti, I lead an intrepid group of guests down the coastal path to the cove. I will admit I was a bit worried when I saw the size of the swell and the distinct lack of beach as we approach, due to the waves and a very high tide. luckily though, having gone ahead to check, it was fine and we managed some beautiful group shots and portraits on the beach.

It was then pleasant stroll back, with plenty of photo opportunities on the return to the barn. Food was served and then it was time for the speeches, with Andy’s brother giving a really funny speech that kept everyone very entertained. In the evening, everyone hit the dance floor with local Cornish band The Stowes really getting people into the party mood with their foot-stomping, Celtic Folk music. You can tell from the photos how much the crowd were enjoying it! Andy had this to say;

Chris really is the best. The photos he took on our wedding day were everything and more than we could have hoped for. He’s also a great guy, 100% reliable and made us feel absolutely relaxed about the whole thing. If you want natural photos on your wedding day then I couldn’t recommend Chris highly enough.

So there you have it, if you want a fun, relaxed, rustic wedding in Cornwall, I would highly recommend you make contact with the wonderful team at Chypraze Wedding Barn. Let them know I sent you, and let me know if you would like to speak about me being your Cornwall Wedding Photographer!
